What is Acai (Purpleberry)?

Açaí (as-sigh-ee) is the Brazilian name for the berry derived only from deep within the Amazon rainforest. It grows on a special palm tree the locals call “The Tree Of Life” and only recently this exceptional berry has been noted as "Nature's #1 superfood” and was recently stated to be “#1 food for anti-ageing benefits" by world renowned Dr M.D. Perricone on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Amazonia's Purpleberry has been shown to contain an exceptional concentration of antioxidants.

What are the Nutritional Benefits of Acai?

How do I use my Açaí and what is the recommended daily intake?
Amazonia recommends a minimum of 3g (heaped teaspoon) of dried acai powder each day, you can consume much larger quantities of this berry however it is up to the individual. The more the better however within one 3 gram serve you get a lot of antioxidants!

Add it to your daily juice, protein shake, Yoghurt, water, over porridge or eat it straight. It tastes great! Our favourite recipe is two heaped tablespoons of Amazonia Acai added to mango juice.

Why can’t I seem to find Açaí in its whole berry form (like Goji Berries)?
Açaí has a huge seed and only a small fleshy skin and pulp. Therefore, when you consume Açaí you are mainly consuming the skin of the Açaí berry and we all know that the skins of fruit are much more nutrient dense than the pulp.

As explained above Açaí also needs to de-pulped and freeze dried shortly after harvest. Therefore is impossible to get the berry in its berry form. All Amazonia Aca however is still in the WHOLEFOOD form, however it is crushed during the de-pulping and freezing.
