Marshmallow (althaea officinalis) - 100 caps
Both the root and the leaf of the marshmallow plant contain a substance known as mucilate, a mucous-like substance that does not dissolve in water. It is this substance that causes marshmallow to swell up and become slippery when wet. This attribute of the marshmallow plant gives it the ability to soothe irritated linings of mucous membranes (particularly the digestive tract), as well as relieving coughing.
Therapeutic Use
Marshmallow has soothing and demulcent properties due to its mucilage content. It has traditionally been used to help soothe irritating coughs. It may also help soothe the mucous membranes that line the urinary and digestive tracts.
Active Ingredients
Each ‘preservative free’ capsule contains 450mg of Althaea officinalis root powder.
Dosage
For adults only: take two capsules with a meal three times daily.
