Exposure to various chemicals and food preservatives, pollutants and stress can also produce free radicals.In response to this build up of free radicals in the body, the body has it’s own antioxidant enzyme systems to scavenge free radicals.

In response to this build up of free radicals in the body, the body has it’s own antioxidant enzyme systems to scavenge free radicals. Glutathione peroxidase, an important enzyme within the body, is reliant on the trace mineral selenium, as selenium is a structural component of glutathione peroxidase. Free radicals not scavenged by the body’s antioxidant enzyme systems are mopped up by the dietary antioxidants.
Vitamin C is a very important nutrient, which has a potent antioxidant activity in the body. Ester C is a non acidic form of Vitamin C, making it particularly useful for those with sensitive stomachs or those who suffer from conditions associated with over acidity. Ester C can be retained in the body for a longer time the vitamin C therefore prolonging its antioxidant activity.
