Tallow Soap – An Old Recipe with New Life

There’s something deeply grounding about going back to basics. My tallow soap is made using a time-honoured recipe that generations before us relied on for clean, healthy skin. By blending beef tallow, apricot kernel oil, beeswax, and lye, I’ve recreated a bar that is both nourishing and sustainable.

Tallow is often overlooked today, yet it’s one of the most gentle and moisturizing ingredients you can put on your skin. It’s rich in nutrients and remarkably similar to our own skin’s natural oils, making it deeply hydrating and supportive for skin health. Combined with the silky lightness of apricot kernel oil and the protective barrier of beeswax, this soap goes beyond cleansing—it’s restorative and soothing.

To colour my soaps naturally, I use flowers like hibiscus and butterfly pea, which create soft, earthy tones. When flowers aren’t the hero, I reach for simple vegetable blends you can find on supermarket shelves—a vibrant greens blend or a red veggie mix—to tint the soaps in the most humble, natural way. No artificial dyes, just what nature (and your local grocer) provides.

Each bar is finished with pure essential oils and natural fragrance—transforming the rich scent of tallow into something refreshing and uplifting, while also adding subtle benefits for the skin and senses.

What I love most is the sustainability behind it. By using tallow, I give new purpose to an ingredient that might otherwise be thrown away, turning it into something beautiful and useful. Every bar reflects a choice for slow living, zero waste practices, and mindful self-care.

This soap is perfect for anyone who values tradition, skin health, and sustainability—a humble bar with a big story, made with simple, honest ingredients that honour both your skin and the earth.
